Cave Entrance

Cave Entrance
This large cave entrance in northeast Alabama is known as Ledbetter Saltpeter Cave. The cave, which opens at the base of a fifty foot high bluff, was mined in the Civil War for saltpeter, the principal ingredient in gunpowder.
